Challenging heteronormativity and patriarchal environments through film at Spazju Kreattiv

Alongside the exhibition, a film program in collaboration with Soura Film Festival will be displayed at the Spazju Kreattiv Cinema on 24th & 25th of September.

Discover the intimate portrait of a young gay man from Morocco on a journey to find his community in “The Last Paradise”, followed by the plight of a trans woman in Iran seeking to validate her identity in “Reset”. From a small village in Turkey, “Iz” reveals the touching portrait of two women married to the same man who find their own love and connection, while “The Guest” depicts an unconventional menage-à-trois that almost derails a marriage of convenience in Tunisia.

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended

Soura Film Festival’s mission is to create a safe and welcoming space for filmmakers from the South West Asia & North Africa region, whose creative vision has challenged heteronormativity and patriarchal environments, and have explored queerness and what it represents to them.

Featuring films that screened in our 2020 edition, this shorts programme aims to provide a broad selection of queer stories from the SWANA region through mixed genres, countries of origin, and especially a diverse spectrum of queer identities.
