Allied Rainbow Communities
LAUNCH OF THE 2022 MALTA PRIDE WEEK
PRESS STATEMENT BY ALLIED RAINBOW COMMUNITIES, ORGANISERS OF MALTA PRIDE

The 2022 Malta Pride Week is taking place between the 2nd and 11th September. This week is more than just an occasion for people to come together and celebrate their diversity. It's an opportunity to raise visibility and awareness, educate, live our lives unapologetically and be a light for those still living in fear.
This year's tagline #LiveYourTruth stands as a reminder that everyone's wellbeing depends greatly on living our lives authentically without fear. We are not a belief or an ideology, we are real humans worthy of love and respect.
In 2022, we still see LGBTIQ people being bullied, shamed, kicked out of their homes, and treated as an ideology rather than a reality. As a country ranking no 1 on ilga's equality rainbow map for the past 7 consecutive years, Malta should continue to be a champion in equality so other countries may follow suit.

This year, over 20 events are taking place during the week that cover various themes.
For the first time, Malta Pride will be hosting the first Pride March in Gozo led by LGBTI+ Gozo. Other events will include:
A guest speaker from UK, Patrick Ettenes to talk about LGBTIQ & Dementia;
Drachma will be looking at gay-bashing bible texts and use bibliodrama as a form of exploration
Elderly residents at Villa Messina, run by CareMalta will be entertained by Dolly Diamond, a drag Cabaret Artist from Australia
Open Mic and Karaoke Nights
Speed Dating & Networking
Sexual Health Testing in the Community
A culture and arts festival for women organised by MGRM
Pride-themed traditional boat tours around the Grand Harbour.
The Malta Pride March will be taking place on Saturday 10th September starting at 5pm from Castille Place Valletta followed by a free open concert at Triton Square in Valletta which will include international and local talent.

Participating organisations include Allied Rainbow Communities, the Malta LGBTIQ Rigths movement, Checkpoint Malta, the Human Rights Directorate, LGBTI+ Gozo, Moviment Graffiti, Aditus Foundation, Drachma, Saydon Studios, GayGuideMalta.com, Honey Island Rollers, lollipop, nerve, Michelangelo Group, Care Malta & The Malta Dementia Society.
