LAUNCH OF THE 2022 MALTA PRIDE WEEK

PRESS STATEMENT BY ALLIED RAINBOW COMMUNITIES, ORGANISERS OF MALTA PRIDE

The 2022 Malta Pride Week is taking place between the 2nd and 11th September. This week is more than just an occasion for people to come together and celebrate their diversity. It's an opportunity to raise visibility and awareness, educate, live our lives unapologetically and be a light for those still living in fear.

This year's tagline #LiveYourTruth stands as a reminder that everyone's wellbeing depends greatly on living our lives authentically without fear. We are not a belief or an ideology, we are real humans worthy of love and respect.

In 2022, we still see LGBTIQ people being bullied, shamed, kicked out of their homes, and treated as an ideology rather than a reality. As a country ranking no 1 on ilga's equality rainbow map for the past 7 consecutive years, Malta should continue to be a champion in equality so other countries may follow suit.

  • A guest speaker from UK, Patrick Ettenes to talk about LGBTIQ & Dementia;

  • Drachma will be looking at gay-bashing bible texts and use bibliodrama as a form of exploration
